To become more effective communicators and writers, students should follow the five stages of the writing process. This process helps students develop a more polished and complete essay, story, or paper.
The Writing Process Stages
Prewriting = generating ideas …selecting a topic, audience, and form.
Drafting = getting ideas down…creating a vivid picture of your story or message.
Revising = adding, subtracting, or reorganizing content…clarifying your message.
Proofreading = editing grammar, punctuation, and usage…a final check of writing.
Publishing = sharing with an audience.
