World Geography and Minnesota History Grade 7 – 3 Trimesters
This course includes world physical geography, world cultural geography and Minnesota history. Basic geographic concepts and skills will be reinforced. The five themes of geography and current events will be emphasized and applied to various regions of the world.
U.S. History 1877 – Present, Grade 8 – 1 Trimester
This course focuses on the study of U.S. history from 1877 to the present. Topics include the emergence of modern America, World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, the Cold War and contemporary America.
Government and Citizenship, Grade 8 – 1 Trimester
This course focuses on the foundations of U.S. government including the three branches of government and constitutional principles. The basic structure and function of federal, state and local governments will also be examined. Additional topics include the roles and responsibilities of citizens and international relations.
U. S. History: Exploration to 1945, Grade 9 – 3 Trimesters
This course focuses on the study of U.S. history from exploration to 1945. Topics include colonization, the Revolutionary War, manifest destiny, the Civil War, Reconstruction, westward expansion, industrialization, immigration, urbanization, the U.S. as a world power, World War I, the Great Depression and World War II.
There are also High-Performance sections for each area of study. Students must submit an application to be considered as a candidate. HP placement is dependent upon a writing sample, test scores, and teacher recommendation. For more information check the registration handbook.
