English 7 – 3 Trimesters

English 7 stresses sentences and paragraph writing in composition; study of short stories and novels in literature; independent reading, reference skills, spelling, grammar and usage.

 

English 8 – 3 Trimesters

English 8 emphasizes paragraph writing in composition; short stories and novels in literature; independent reading, research skills and language development centered on spelling, vocabulary and grammar.

 

English 9 – 3 Trimesters

English 9 focuses on paragraph writing and multi-paragraph papers in composition; short stories, novels, drama, and poetry in literature; independent reading, reference and research skills as well as language development (spelling, vocabulary and grammar).

 

There are also High-Performance sections for each area of study.  Students must submit an application to be considered as a candidate.  HP placement is dependent upon a writing sample, test scores, and teach recommendation. For more information check the registration handbook.

 

Reading/Writing Lab – 1 Trimester/Full Year

The junior high schools offer and reading/writing development program.  Students will be selected to these classes by counselors and teachers based on academic need.  For more information please contact a counselor.
