Student Contact/Line of Sight
As a volunteer you will meet many students, however, volunteers should not telephone students, visit them at their homes or meet students off school grounds without permission from the parents and/or school principal. In addition, when working with students, whether individually or in small groups, we recommend you work in a highly visible area. This is not only for the protection of students but volunteers as well.

Discussing personal information regarding an adult student or underage student will be cause for disciplinary action and/or lead to termination of the volunteer.
Dependability
Dependability is more important than any specialized skill. It is very important to be punctual. Teachers and students have planned on your being part of their day. Call the school if you will be late or absent.
Discipline
Volunteers may not discipline students beyond maintaining order in their group activity. Report any problems with students’ behavior to a staff member.
Communication
As a volunteer, questions or concerns may arise. Feel free to ask questions of the staff personal you are working with or talk with the school’s volunteer coordinator. Your input is always welcome.
