osseo area schools logoIn a special meeting on May 8, the Osseo School Board launched its interim superintendent leadership plan for next year.

The board authorized hiring two veteran educators who will serve in the position of interim superintendent during the 2018-2019 school year:

  • Dr. Kim Riesgraf will serve from July 1 through September 30, 2018
  • Dr. Jim Bauck will serve from October 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019

Riesgraf and Bauck form a highly qualified team with nearly 70 years of education experience between them.

Dr. Riesgraf served Osseo Area Schools for 28 years as a teacher, principal, special education director, student services director, and assistant superintendent until she retired in 2016. She holds a doctorate from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and a bachelor of arts from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Dr. Bauck has served public education in Minnesota for 39 years as a middle and high school teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Bauck's superintendent experience spanned 24 years serving the Owatonna, Lakeville, Buffalo, and Eastern Carver County school districts prior to his retirement in June 2017. He holds doctoral and master's degrees from the University of Minnesota and an undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead.

There will be planned overlap and transition time with Superintendent Kate Maguire before she retires in late June. Riesgraf and Bauck will also overlap duties in late summer/early fall for back-to-school events.

Pending successful negotiations, both interim contracts will be approved by the board at the May 15 regular meeting.
