MATH

A Texas Instruments 30 x llS or 34 ll calculator is required for Math Class unless otherwise noted.

MathScape 7 – 3 Trimesters

MathScape 7 increases students skills and knowledge in the areas of number and number relations, number systems and number theory, computation and estimation, patterns and functions, algebra, statistics, probability, geometry, and measurement.  These skills are developed primarily through an exploratory approach. 

 

There is also an High Performance MathScape 7.  Students must submit an application to be considered as a candidate.  HP placement is dependent upon letter grqade, test score, and RIT score.

 

MathScape 8 – 3 Trimesters

Math Scape 8 builds on the skills learned in MathScape 7.  This course emphasizes number and number relations, number systems and number theory computation and estimation, patterns and functions, algebra, statistics, probability, geometry and measurement.

 

Standards Test Prep Lab – 3 Trimesters

This course prepares students to improve their scores and pass the MCA’s.  Problems will be studied involving whole numbers and fractions, estimation, percent and ratio, measurement, probability, statistics and geometry.

 

Integrated Math 1 - 3 Trimesters

Integrated Math 1 introduces students to the use of algebra, geometry, logical reasoning and complex problem solving, statistics, probability and discrete math are also presented.  Students must have successfully completed MathScape 8 or submitted a high performance application to take this course.

 

Integrated Math 2 – 3 Trimesters
(Prerequisite:  Successful completion of Integrated Math 1 with a grade of B or better.) 

Integrated Math 2 builds on and further develops the skills learned in Integrated Math 1.  Additional topics covered include trigonometry, quadratic equations, geometric proofs, binomial distributions, postulates and proof and matrix operations.  A Texas Instruments 83+ graphing calculator is recommended for this course.
